Matteo Candidi

Matteo Candidi

His research interests concern affective, cognitive and social neuroscience and span across the neural correlates of emotional body perception, body and action neural representations, motor error detection, joint-actions and psychological attitudes. These different topics are studied through TMS and kinematics approaches.

His past research on the neural underpinnings of body form and body action perception and on the neural correlates of emotional body language (coll. Prof Beatrice de Gelder) was carried using brain stimulation methods (spTMS, ppTMS, event-related on-line interferential and off-line inhibitory TMS) and have shown the causal contribution of visual occipito-temporal, temporal and premotor cortices to body form, action and emotion representation (coll. Prof. Patrick Haggard), respectively. His research also focused on the kinematics of joint actions (coll. Dr. Giovanni Pezzulo) in emotionally realistic social environments and on the neural correlates of action language representation (coll. Prof. Horacio Carreiras).
