My previous research experience concerned the role of expectations in shaping both exteroceptive and interoceptive processes, with a special focus on mental imagery as a key aspect of predictive processes. Specifically, my work aimed at exploring whether and how prior knowledge and experience can subtly change our perception of our internal (i.e., interoceptive) and external (i.e., social) world, by combining behavioral, psychophysiological (e.g., cardiac activity, respiration) and electroencephalographic measures. My current work at the AgliotiLab will be taking advantage of combining electroencephalography, electrogastrography, and immersive virtual reality to shed light on the role of prior expectations, stress, and relaxation on gastric activity.
