Previously, I investigated the role of race in a freeze-like defence mechanism to aversive stimuli in Virtual Reality at the Maastricht University: combining a behavioural study, with an fMRI study. My current work deals with how the sense of the internal state of our bodies (interoceptive awareness) alternates our tendencies to act honestly/dishonestly, using fMRI for better understanding the underlying neural circuits of this type of moral behaviour.
